From the archives. "Ferrero Rocher chocolates and talcum powder. Voted the best malt of all by the readers of Whisky Magazine last year, Campbeltown's most famous product is made in the most traditional way imaginable, with every stage of the process - from malting the barley to bottling - being done on site. This bottling is stupendous for its age. A mere seven years in an active ex-sherry butt has not only given it a rich amber hue; it has also leant extraordinary complexity. Sweet and fruity (stewed apples with nutmeg), a smell of the distant sea (salt and seaweed) and an elusive perfume, which we identified as talcum power once water had been added. There is a whiff of smoke in behind, and some noted a hint of milk chocolate. Tasted neat (hot and salty) the latter comes through in the finish; at reduced strength it becomes Ferrero Rocher Italian chocolates, with chopped hazelnuts coming first (along with pepper and salt) and the chocolate coming in the aftertaste. Dry overall and well balanced; the development is towards seaside pebbles and minerals. Impressive!" The original price for this bottle in 2000 was £45.
Although a condition report is normally included in the lot description, we would recommend viewing/close inspection prior to placing any bids.
If this is not an option and you have questions beyond the offered description and images, please use the link "ask a question" to make specific enquiries or to receive a more in-depth condition report. Otherwise lots will be sold as seen and described.
Please note: due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit.
