From the archives. "Stables and ash-trays. Global demand for this distinguished Islay malt is such that supplies of the proprietary bottling (at 16 years old) are rationed, and have been withdrawn from certain markets. We are very fortunate to have secured this cask and its a good one too. At fourteen years, this example is full gold in colour, with a first nose of clean linen and chalk, backed by a light fruitiness, with becomes richer and deeper reminding us of farmyards. A trace of coal tar soap reveals its origin. At full strength the flavour is sweet, soapy and smoky, with an aftertaste of ash-trays. Water introduces candlewicks or wax tapers, dries out the farmyards and softens the flavour: smooth with fragrant, herbal smoke then clean charcoal in the finish. A classic if its kind." The original price for this bottle in 2001 was £50.
Although a condition report is normally included in the lot description, we would recommend viewing/close inspection prior to placing any bids.
If this is not an option and you have questions beyond the offered description and images, please use the link "ask a question" to make specific enquiries or to receive a more in-depth condition report. Otherwise lots will be sold as seen and described.
Please note: due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit.
