Step 1: Contact Us

The first step is simply to contact us with a list of bottle(s) you would like to sell and get a free valuation from our whisky specialists. Simply click the 'Get a Free Valuation' button, it only takes a few minutes.

We use a wide variety of factors to establish a fair valuation. Current market conditions, our own track record with specific whiskies, the condition, provenance and more importantly recent auction activity. Our aim is to work together to get you the very best price. We don't over promise but work tirelessly to over deliver.

Step 2: Ship your Bottles

To enter your bottle(s) in the next auction after your free valuation, the next step is to send your bottles to whisky-online auctions. Choose one of the three possible options to get your bottles safely to us.

Request a Free Home Collection

Our Valuers Wayne and Harrison travel through the UK regularly offering free home collections. Please call the office to make arrangements on 01253 620 376.

Courier Service

Alternatively we do offer a collection service via our international couriers. The cost of using this collection service starts from £10 + VAT. Depending on your post code area, we will receive your parcel the next day. Please note that all items sent would be at the owners risk.

To ensure we know who has sent the parcel please include your name and address inside the parcel. Once we receive your parcel we will proceed and contact you acknowledging it has arrived. Personal Drop off

You are welcome to personally drop off your bottle(s) at our premises, we would draw your attention to our opening times Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm, outside these hours please contact us to make alternative arrangements. At the point of drop off, a signed consignment sheet will be issued listing all the items left with us, and will be your receipt. We would like to point out all items will be insured once they are in our possession.

Step 3: Auction

Once the bottles are with us we will handle all the logistics right up to you receiving payment, we will administer all photography, promotion and description leading up to and during the sale.

If you don't already have an account with us we will create an account for you and forward the logging in details this will able you to monitor your consigned lot(s) directly from your account area, once you have logged in. On the left hand menu simply select > "Items for sale" once the auction goes live you will be able track their progress with direct links to the live auction.

Note: your lots will only appear in your account area once the auction is live.


Step 4: Payment

We pride ourselves in making the fastest payouts of any other auction. We will make payments as soon as possible by bank transfer no later than 14 working days after the end of the sale.

You will receive the full amount minus our sellers commission fee, a lotting fee plus VAT per item, which contributes to the admin and photography costs. Sellers within the EU also pay VAT @ 20% on the commission & lotting fees, if you are selling from outside the UK an international bank transfer charge may apply. Once an invoice has been raised you will be able to view and print them off from your account area.

Commission Charges

Like all businesses and service providers, Auctioneers are no different they all have running cost, these running costs will vary from one auction to another this may be reflected in their charges.

Commission is percentage the auctioneer charges for selling goods on your behalf, this can vary from 5% to 25% here at Whisky-Online Auctions we try and keep this down to the minimum, the commission we receive on sales contributes and allows us to promote items up for auction to a worldwide audience, resulting in more bidders visiting our site. more bidders, will result in more money in your pocket.

Our low 5% sellers commission structure makes it more profitable for sellers to capitalise on their investment. We are proactive in marketing your whisky and our website is designed to maximise global interest, no other auction house will work as hard for you as we will.

  • Reserve fee - £5 per lot - See Reserves vs no reserve
  • Non EU international bank transfer charge may apply

VAT is payable by the seller on all services provided by the auctioneer, not the hammer price.
