From the archives. "Cinder toffee and Germolene. A first-fill sherry butt from Orkney's most famous distillery, filled during the first week in January, with a deep amber colour, but very little sherry on the nose. The first nose is mild, rich and sweet; castor sugar caramelising into toffee, with a TCP note in the background which is typical of this malt. Only when water is added do very faint sherry notes emerge, and a vanishing whiff of brimstone to begin with. It drinks well straight - powerfully spicy, warming, with traces of hazelnuts. These flavours are modified by water but still present. A very long finish, and development towards potty-putty, for those of you old enough to remember the 1960s school yard craze. One to savour by the fire." Original price in 2000 was £42.
Although a condition report is normally included in the lot description, we would recommend viewing/close inspection prior to placing any bids.
If this is not an option and you have questions beyond the offered description and images, please use the link "ask a question" to make specific enquiries or to receive a more in-depth condition report. Otherwise lots will be sold as seen and described.
Please note: due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit.
