1 bottle of Glenfarclas 'Pure Malt Whisky' distilled 1923 and bottled 1944. Label printing states 'Twentyone Year's Old. 1923 George Scott Grant 1944'. J & - Grant Distillers Glenfarclas-Glenlivet Distillery.  Bare driven cork with no capsule. Bottle never had capsule. Cork shows appropriate signs of aging both at the exposed top and the base. No capacity stated but bottle is full sized two part moulded glass showing typical signatures of 1940s glass production. No strength is stated but it has been confirmed by John Grant of Glenfarclas that this bottling was originally 20 degrees under proof at time of bottling, equivalent to around 46% volume. Level in upper-top shoulder. Wear and tear to label with aging appropriate to age.

This bottle comes from a family in Aberdeenshire. It was gifted to the vendor's mother in 1944 who had been the governess for George and his brother. It had been bottled upon the occasion of George Scott Grant's 21st birthday. The mother passed away in 1972 and this bottle has remained in the family the whole time.

This bottle has been authenticated by John Grant of Glenfarclas as a limited bottling produced at the time for family and friends. This is the first one ever to appear outwith the distillery archives.

A stunning and unique example of Scottish distilling history from one of Scotland's greatest family owned distilleries. It should also be noted the liquid remains clear and appears to be in excellent condition which would suggest that the whisky remains highly drinkable.

Although a condition report is normally included in the lot description, we would recommend viewing/close inspection prior to placing any bids.

If this is not an option and you have questions beyond the offered description and images, please use the link "ask a question" to make specific enquiries or to receive a more in-depth condition report. Otherwise lots will be sold as seen and described.

Please note: due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit.
