The last official Macallan Anniversary Malt released in the 20th century, Macallan 1974 25- year-old was distilled the year the original distillery was expanded to 18 stills from 12. A further three stills were added the following year as the distillery transitioned into the behemoth it was to become in the final period of the millennium. This 1974 Macallan is one of the last of its type - a big, meaty, multi-layered old school sherried dram from a critical period of flux in the distillery’s history.
