From the archives. "May flowers and swarfega. The distillery closest to Kildalton Kirk, with its celebrated Celtic cross, was handsomely refurbished by its owners five years ago, although at present its floor maltings, which is famously produced the most heavily peated of all malts, have not been reinstated. This example of the make is pale gold in colour, and has a prickly, fruity, heady scent, like May bushes on a sultry afternoon; a hint of coffee ground lies behind. The flavour, unreduced, is bitter and strong. Add water and more typical Islay notes emerge: industrial soap (green swarfega jelly), weak creosote (a garden shed on a warm day), a trace of cordite. The flavour continues this theme: a big, soft mouthfeel, warming, with traces of liquorice and also (surprisingly) fresh straw; sweet then dry, with a long, warming aftertaste." The original price of this bottle in 2002 was £45.
Although a condition report is normally included in the lot description, we would recommend viewing/close inspection prior to placing any bids.
If this is not an option and you have questions beyond the offered description and images, please use the link "ask a question" to make specific enquiries or to receive a more in-depth condition report. Otherwise lots will be sold as seen and described.
Please note: due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit.
